“You can see that we always emphasize on the challenges because of the Government side and MDAs. As part of the stakeholders, we must always be pushing to get funds from the Government that will be used in implementing the social protection programmes.
This is a continuous process from our side, if not the challenges will always surpass our achievements.
“And it’s time to call on the composition of group that the social protection law is still hanging in Kano, we need to put hands together and push for it’s passage in the state assembly so that the Government can administer the provision of the law fully”, Salisu Yusuf stated.

The KASSOPP Chairman further urged line MDAs to do the needful in requesting funds meant for implementing the good policies and programmes that are social protection centred.
Speaking earlier, the Secretary of the Technical Working Group (TWG), Malam Dalhatu Danladi who is from the State Ministry of Planning and Budget appreciates the United Nations Children’s Funds (UNICEF) support in organizing the last quarterly meeting, which will go long way in reviewing the overall activities and way forward in 2025.
Danladi added that the team have so far discussed and fashioned out ways that will help in achieving the target of protecting the welfare and lives of vulnerable groups in the budgetary allocations of 2025.
“You can that there’s more we can do having look at the multiple overlapping deprivation analysis (MODA) presented, because it enable us to know the status of our state according to the index.
“The need for clean water and sanitation, health, nutrition, education and child protection is a must, so MODA as a right-based framework for multi-dimensional child poverty, really helps define the dimension of child poverty, identify areas of deprivation in one or more indicators”, Dalhatu mentioned.
He then urged the members of TWG to revisit budgetary allocations for social protection programmes after the state passage in their various MDAs which is key to actualizing the set goals.
“There is a need for members of the TWG to follow up and know the budgetary provisions of their MDAs on social protection to start implementing the projects to the target group”because we have the courage that UNICEF will continue to SPs programms. Also in our next meeting we will try to develop a plan for Local Governments to improved their spendings on social protection to reflect the emerging issues, Dalhatu concludes.
Stakeholders from Social Protection implementing MDAs of the state attended the workshop and promised to call the attention of the Government to contribute more to social protection projects.
