Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission has sealed four warehouses stocked with thousands of bags of grains and other consumable commodities in the state.
The private warehouses located along Dawano area, along Kano/Daura/Katsina road were found stocked with floor, maize, sorghum, spaghetti, sugar, and macaroni believed to have been hoarding from the market.
Leading a team of security operatives and journalists on the inspection of the warehouses, the Chairman of the commission, Barrister Muhuyi Magagi Rimin-Gado said the stocked commodities were hoarded to inflate profit thereby escalating hunger in the land.
Rimin-Gado had earlier declared hoarding of food items illegal, threatened to arrest and prosecute perpetrators of the act and any criminal tendencies to create artificial scarcity and price inflation.
