The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa; Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-General Taoreed Lagbaja; Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar; Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, and the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, are scheduled to appear before the House of Representatives today.
This appearance is part of the sectorial debates introduced by the House pursuant to Order Seventeen, Rules 1(3) of the Standing Orders.
The service chiefs will address the House on security challenges facing the country and their constitutional responsibilities in ensuring the security of lives, property, and the nation’s territorial integrity..
House spokesperson Akin Rotimi Jr had earlier conveyed that the inaugural session, initially set for November 9, 2023, with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor and deputies, was postponed.

He said the ‘Sectoral Debate’ Series provides lawmakers with the opportunity to pose questions to invited government officials on areas requiring legislative interventions.
The Speaker, Abbas Tajuddeen, had on Wednesday at plenary informed that the service chiefs were scheduled to appear today, addind that activities for the day should be reduced to allow for the interaction with the service chiefs and the IGP.
