The Kano State Ministry of Environment on Wednesday, commenced the fumigation exercise at Science and Technical College, Ungogo Local Government to reduce the spread of communicable diseases.
The State Commissioner for Environment, Alhaji Nasiru Sule-Garo, said the exercise would take place in all boarding schools in the state.
He said the fumigation would help to eradicate mosquitoes and reduce the spread of malaria among students in the school.
Sule-Garo said the exercise would be conducted every year in all the boarding schools.

He said Tsangaya schools would also benefit from the program.
On his part, the Principal, Science and Technical College Ungogo, Malam Mikailu Usaini, thanked the state government for conducting the exercise.
Usaini said with the fumigation; the environment would become conducive for teaching and learning.
“After raining season, mosquitoes, insects disturb the students with this fumigation there will be reduction of sickness within the school premises” Usaini said. (NAN)
