Ganduje’s Daughter, Wamakko’s Son Among NWDC Director Nominees

The National Assembly has nominated 11 individuals, including relatives of prominent politicians, to serve as directors in the newly established North-West Development Commission (NWDC).

In a letter signed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, and the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator (Dr.) Barau I. Jibrin, the nominees were recommended for approval by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The letter, sighted by ‘Good Evening Nigeria‘  on Thursday, highlights the proposed appointments.

Among the nominees is Asiya Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, daughter of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. She has been nominated as Director of Community & Rural Development. Also included is the son of Senator Aliyu Wamakko, former Governor of Sokoto State, who has been proposed as Director of Planning, Research, Statistics, and Management Information Systems.

  7. Malik Anas – Solid Minerals & Agriculture
  8. Alhasan Sidi Suleiman – Commercial & Industrial Development
  9. Ahmed Mohammed – Projects Monitoring & Supervision
  10. Garba Aminu – Youth & Women Affairs Development

The letter, titled “Joint Proposal of the Speaker and the Deputy President of the Senate for Those to Serve as Directors of Departments of the North-West Development Commission,” expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for the commission’s establishment.

“On behalf of the good people of North-West Nigeria, we thank Your Excellency for the establishment of this Commission. May Allah reward Your Excellency for your consistent love for the people of the North-West zone. May Allah continue to guide and protect Your Excellency as you strive to lead our nation to prosperity,” the letter stated.

The North-West Development Commission was recently established to drive economic development, infrastructure projects, and social initiatives across the region. The nominations now await President Tinubu’s approval.
