The Nigeria Police Force has denied allegations by Mr. Muhuyi Magaji Rimin Gado, Chairman of the Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, claiming he was arrested by the police.
In a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Police clarified that Mr. Magaji was not arrested but invited for questioning in response to a petition filed against him.
According to the statement, the Inspector-General of Police Monitoring Unit received the petition on Friday, January 17, 2025. Following standard investigative procedures, Mr. Magaji was invited to provide clarity on the matter.

The Police emphasized that, as a public servant and a respected figure, Mr. Magaji is expected to cooperate with the investigation rather than making public claims that could mislead or alarm the public.

The Force described the arrest claims as baseless and urged the media and the public to refrain from spreading false information that could cause unnecessary confusion or panic.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to the rule of law and will continue to uphold due process in all investigations,” the statement concluded.
