Umar Idris Shuaibu, Kano
In a bold step to strengthen governance and enhance service delivery, the Executive Governor of Kano State, His Excellency Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved key appointments and reassignments across critical sectors.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
The statement highlighted that the appointments reflect the administration’s commitment to recruiting skilled professionals to spearhead development, improve financial management, and ensure efficient service delivery for the people of Kano State.

Key Appointments and Reassignments
- Jamila Magaji Abdullahi – Accountant General of Kano State
A seasoned accountant and tax administrator with over 16 years of experience, Jamila Magaji Abdullahi has expertise in financial compliance, budgeting, and risk management. She holds a B.Sc. in Accountancy and a Master’s in Treasury Management from Bayero University, Kano. As the immediate past Director of Treasury at the Kano State Ministry of Finance, her appointment underscores the administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability in public finance. - Muhammad Yahaya Liman – Director of Treasury
With over 16 years of experience in banking and financial management, Muhammad Yahaya Liman brings a proven track record in financial reporting, compliance, and risk mitigation. He holds a B.Sc. in Accounting, an MBA in Finance and Investment, and a Master’s in Accounting and Financial Management from Bayero University, Kano.His leadership skills and extensive expertise will enhance the efficiency of Kano State’s treasury operations. - Akibu Isa Murtala – Special Adviser on Administration, Governor’s Office
Formerly a Senior Special Assistant in the Office of the Chief of Staff, Akibu Isa Murtala has been elevated to the position of Special Adviser on Administration. His promotion reflects his dedication and effectiveness in ensuring smooth administrative coordination within the government. - Engr. Abubakar Sadiq – Deputy Managing Director, Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASA)
Previously the Deputy Managing Director of Kano Line, Engr. Abubakar Sadiq has been reassigned to RUWASA. His expertise will now focus on improving rural water supply and sanitation, aligning with the government’s goal of enhancing infrastructure and quality of life for rural communities.
Revival of Kano State Transport Authority (Kano Line)
Governor Yusuf has also taken steps to revitalize the Kano State Transport Authority (Kano Line). A strategic committee has been established to review and manage the operations of Kano Line over the next six months, ensuring its efficiency and sustainability.
