The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, on Sunday flagged off the party’s Local Government election campaign in Katsina State amidst a massive crowd of supporters.

The campaign launch, held in Ingawa Local Government Area, was marked by the defection of several prominent political figures to the APC. Among the defectors were the former State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Rabiu Gambo Bakori; Accord Party’s Vice Presidential Aspirant, Isah Hamisu Dandume; and a former Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Alhaji Yakubu Idris Danchafa.

In his address, Dr. Ganduje attributed the defections to the APC government’s commitment to prosperity and good governance, which he said had inspired confidence in opposition politicians. He assured the new members of equal opportunities within the party, emphasizing that they would enjoy the same privileges as long-standing party members.

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, also spoke at the event, pledging his administration’s commitment to conducting free and fair elections that reflect the people’s will. He urged residents to support APC candidates in the upcoming February Local Government elections and the 2027 general elections. Governor Radda reiterated the party’s dedication to fulfilling its mandate of building a prosperous future for the state.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Alhaji Rabiu Gambo Bakori praised the governor’s developmental strides as the driving force behind their decision to join the APC. He pledged to collaborate with the administration to advance the state’s progress.

The campaign flag-off witnessed an impressive turnout of party stalwarts and supporters, including notable figures such as the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political and Other Matters, Alhaji Ibrahim Kabir Masari; members of the APC National Working Committee; the State Deputy Governor, Malam Faruk Lawal Jobe; and former Governor of Katsina State, Barr. Ibrahim Shema.

Also in attendance were Senators Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua, Muntari Dandutse, and Nasiru Sani Zango; former Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika; members of the State Executive Council; and former federal and state legislators.

The event highlighted the APC’s stronghold in Katsina State and its readiness for the upcoming elections.
