Former Kano Commissioner Abbas Sani Abbas Joins APC

The immediate past Commissioner for Rural and Community Development in Kano State, Abbas Sani Abbas has officially left the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Abbas, who was one of six commissioners relieved of their duties by Governor Abba Yusuf last month, announced his defection during a visit to prominent APC leaders in Kano.

The Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, confirmed Abbas’ move in a Facebook post on Wednesday. “I welcomed Hon. Abbas Sani Abbas to our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), a moment ago,” Jibrin wrote.

Jibrin praised Abbas for his commitment to grassroots mobilization and expressed confidence in his ability to contribute to the party’s growth. “Joined by the Chairman of our party in Kano State, Prince Abdullahi Abbas, and other leaders, we proudly embraced Hon. Abbas into our fold. We assured him of our support as we work together to create a better future for Kano State and all Nigerians,” he added.

Abbas’ defection is seen as a significant development in Kano’s political landscape as the APC continues to consolidate its position in the state.
