The Federal College of Agricultural Produce Technology (FCAPT) has commenced the distribution of food items to its staff, which was held on the college premises during the previous week.
The Provost of FCAPT, Dr. Muhammad Yusha’u Gwaram, stated that this decision is part of the social and economic intervention program to support the Federal Government’s policy aimed at alleviating the hardships faced by some individuals.
Dr. Gwaram explained that the welfare package targets those in need, considering the high cost of food items in the market. He noted that this measure will undoubtedly improve the level of food security among FCAPT staff.

“Over 300 10kg bag of rice were distributed, and all categories of staff, including academics, non-academics, and casual cleaners, benefited from this initiative, which we hope will reduce the suffering of our people,” Dr. Gwaram said.
The Provost added that this initiative was introduced in 2020, aiming to improve staff welfare and motivation, thereby enhancing working conditions to achieve the college’s objectives.
Earlier, the Chairman of the distribution committee and Head of the Crop Production and Pest Management Technology Department, Malam Aliyu Uba Ahmad, stated that the exercise will be a continuous one, as the college has previously provided similar support to its employees.
“As we have witnessed today, the palliatives are readily available. This is part of the current management’s decision to cushion the effects of price hikes on the staff, which is commendable,” said the Chairman of the distribution committee.
One of the college staff, Malam Abdullahi Shehu, praised the initiative under the leadership of the Provost, Dr. Muhammad Yusha’u Gwaram, which benefited all categories of employees.
“This is a testament to the Provost’s confidence in us and his determination to ensure every staff member benefits from these palliatives,” Abdullahi Shehu said.
