The decision to embark on the strike was reached at the 112 ASUP NEC meeting in Abuja on November 28, 2024. During this period, all academic activities in Kano State Polytechnic will be closed.
ASUP had previously issued a 15-day ultimatum to the federal government and other relevant agencies to review and reverse policy decisions inconsistent with the Polytechnics Act and other governance instruments in the sub-sector.
The union alleged impunity and disregard for clear provisions of the Act, various edicts establishing state-owned institutions, and other governance instruments.
