Gov. Yusuf Restores Land to Aminu Kano College, Reversing Ganduje’s Decision

The Kano State Government has handed over land to Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies, which was previously confiscated from the school and allocated to individuals and groups for residential purposes by the administration of former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.

This was made known by the State Commissioner for Land and Physical Planning, Hon. Abduljabbar Umar Garko, on Wednesday while addressing journalists in Kano.

He stated that Governor Abba Yusuf exercised his authority under Section 28 of the Land Use Act, 2004 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to take this action.

While receiving the land documents on behalf of the college, Deputy Provost Dija Isa Hashim expressed her satisfaction with the Kano State Government’s decision.

Dija Isa Hashim emphasized the significance of this land to the college, which holds immense historical value for Kano State.

She expressed gratitude on behalf of the college and its stakeholders, adding that “The college is facing numerous challenges, but we are optimistic that the current administration would change the narrative soon.”

“We are urging governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to authorize the transition of this college into a university, which will make a great impact on the educational development of Kano state.” she said.

Dija Isa Hashim called on the state government to further invest in the college by providing additional infrastructure and resources to elevate its status.
