Drama as Ganduje’s Son Backs Criminal Charges Against Parents

Alh. Abdulazeez Umar Ganduje, the eldest son of former Kano state Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has thrown weight behind the investigation and prosecution of criminal charges against his parents.

Umar Ganduje Junior expressed satisfaction over several attempts by the state government to unravel the issues behind the misappropriation of public funds during the administration of his father.

Abdulazeez made the remarks on Wednesday when he paid a solidarity visit to Chairman of Kano Anti-Graft Agency, Barr. Muhuyi Magaji at the headquarters of the commission.

The younger Ganduje promised to furnish the anti-graft with necessary documents to hence his parents prosecution.

According to him, ” We commend and pass our endorsement on the charges brought against our father, mother, and brother by the commission. I will continue to support the agency to carry out his work diligently”.

Abdulazeez further complained  his parents unjustly removed him as director of one of the companies undergoing trial, expressing his distress over being ousted without his consent.

Recall sometime in September 2021, how Abdulazeez dragged his mother and the then wife of the Governor before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) failed land transaction.

In the petition filed before the anti-graft, Abdulazeez accused his own mother, Dr. Hafsat Ganduje, of replacing a land that he paid for on behalf of his client.

Detailed in the petition, Abdulazeez explained how he was approached by a property developer to assist in acquiring land in Kano for a substantial sum of money.

It was revealed that Abdulazeez paid a specified amount in US dollars to his mother, but subsequently afterward realized the land he had paid for had been allocated to other buyer and requested a refund.

It took the intervention of the EFCC who extended an open invitation to Dr. Hafsat Ganduje for inquiry to resolve the entire matter.

Ganduje’s son revelation came a few hours after the criminal charges filed by Kano state government against his father, mother and others failed to hold due to irregular service of charges.

Others joined in the suit include Abubakar Bawuro, Jibrilla Muhammad, Lamash Properties Limited, Safari Textiles Limited, and Lasage General Limited.
