Show Evidence of N6billion Spent on Ramadan Feeding, , APC Challenges Gov. Yusuf

The opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) has demanded Kano state government to account for the sum of N6 billion disbursed for the annual Ramadan feeding programs in the state.

Kano APC Chairman, Prince Abdullahi Abbas made the demand on Saturday while flagging the distribution of palliatives to party members across 484 political wards in the state.

Prince Abbas who described the entire feeding program of the state government as an organized scam, insisted the NNPP administration has failed the credibility test entrusted by Kano people.

According to the APC Chairman, instead of dispensing the state resources judiciously as promised, Abbas alleged that Kano government is relying on Dangote and BUA foundations’ palliatives.

The opposition’s task for accountability comes less than 24 hours after Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf expressed dissatisfaction with the kind of arrangements ensued by the feeding organizing committee.

” We challenge Governor Abba to explain how the N6 billion public fund is being disbursed on the sole call Ramadan Feeding. We challenge the government to show the world  proof of this spending because Kano people no longer trust the government.

” We have the conviction that the entire feeding is an arranged scam. Besides spending a huge amount on feeding that cannot be justified, the government is still begging Dangote and BUA for palliatives. This is the same government that received funds from federal government solely for palliatives”. Abbas said.

Speaking on the APC palliatives, the National Chairman of the party, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje explained that the gesture was intended in the spirit of Ramadan.

Represented by his Chief of Staff, Comrade Muhammad Garba, the APC chairman believed the food items funded by prominent members of the party including deputy Senate President, Barau Jibril, ministers of state for FCT, Mariya Bunkure, and her counterpart at the Ministry of Housing, Abdullahi Gwarzo among others.

According to Garba, each political ward is allotted 10 bags (50kg) rice, 5 bags (100kg) millet and 100 cartoons of Spaghetti. In total, he said 5,840 bags of rice, 1,624 bags of millet and 2,000 cartoons of spaghetti were distributed.
