Governor Abba Kabiru Yusuf has forwarded a list of commissioners and secretary of Kano State Independent Electoral Commission KANSIEC for legislative screening and speedy approval.

Those whose names were transmitted to the state assembly are Eng Kabiru Jibrin, Dr Salis Muhammad Tudun Kaya, Barr. Muktar Dandago, Alh. Shehu Na’Allah Kura, Alh. Isyaku Ibrahim Kunya, Hajiya Amina Inuwa Fagge, Garba Ibrahim Tsanyawa while Anas Muhammad Mustapha as Secretary.

The Governor, in a letter dated February 28, 2024, and read by the Speaker, Rt. Hon Jibrin Ismail Falgore before the plenary, requested the honourable House to consider and approve the KANSIEC commissioners and the Secretary.

A statement by Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai spokesman to Rt. Hon Speaker, has constituted the committees assigned for the speedy screening of the names before the House.

The Kano State House of Assembly assured Governor Yusuf of the speedy approval of the appointment of seven commissioners and a Secretary for the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC).

Already, the executive has also forwarded the names of 44 nominees for legislative consideration as Interim Management Officers. This came few weeks after the expiration of the tenure of the local government Chairmen and the councillors.

After the legislative screening, the 44 appointees would be deployed across the 44 local councils as caretakers for the next three months pending when KANSIEC would conduct the council election.
