Man Slumped, Died while Fighting with Co-worker in Kano Factory

A middle-aged man and factory worker Tukur Adamu has died while fighting with his colleague during working hours in Kano.

Both the late Adamu and his co-worker are casual staff of Fas Agro Sacks Company at Sharada Ja’in Quarters in the Kano metropolis.

The unfortunate incident that led to Adamu’s death ensued Saturday evening when an argument broke out between him and his co-worker James Isma’il, aged 32, over the factory uniform.

The argument which eventually led to an exchange of punches and dangerous tools led to Adamu sustaining critical injury. He was later confirmed dead at the hospital.

It took the intervention of the police to calm the rising nerves of some youths in the community who had staged mob action over the death of Adamu and attempted to set the factory ablaze.

The Police spokesman SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa who confirmed the ugly development disclosed that the police received a distress call about the unfortunate incident and had since maintained calm.

In the narration, the police said, “On the 21st January 2024, at about 08:30 am, a distress call was received through the Command’s emergency number; 08032419754 that fighting erupted between two staff of Fas Agro Sacks Company located at Sharada Ja’in Quarters Kano which led to the death of one Tukur Adamu, 32 years old, ‘m’, of Dango Sharada Ja’in Quarters Kano.

“On receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, FIPMA, psc ordered the immediate deployment of Police Operatives led by Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Sharada Division, SP Abdulrahim Adamu to the scene.

“On arrival at the scene, the body was rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital Kano where a medical doctor certified the body dead, whereas the suspect, James Isma’il, aged 32 years, ‘m’, was arrested. Similarly, thirteen (13) of the thugs were so far arrested.

“The situation was immediately brought under control and the suspects were transferred to the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department, Homicide Section for discrete investors”. SP Kiyawa explained.

Meanwhile, the suspect Isma’il who confirmed the dead of his colleague during a fisticuff with him said the late Adamu confronted him first while they both argued over factory uniform.

The suspect who is already in the custody of the police disclosed ( in a voice interview released by the police) that he regretted the death of Adamu who has been a close friend in the last three and half years.

In his words, ” I wouldn’t have accepted to come to work in Kano if I had known that someone’s life would end through me”.
