A member representing Fagge Federal Constituency of Kano State, Muhammad Bello Shehu, has initiated three bills and motions in the House of Representatives to establish a Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Dental College of Technology and a University of Sports in Kano Municipal area.
Shehu, a former lecturer at Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies disclosed this to Newsmen at the National Assembly in Abuja.
He said Kano deserves a FMC given the dense population of his constituency in particular and the state at large.

The lawmaker said there are lots of medical challenges in the state as the few available facilities cannot meet the health needs of his people in the state.
He said the only State Teaching Hospital and few General Hospitals as well as Private Hospitals, both at the state and local governments, cannot accommodate the pressure from citizens of the state.
Having been informed politically to come and make a difference in representation at the Parliamentary level, he quickly swung into action by initiating three bills on the floor of the House for the establishment of a FMC in Kano, Dental College of Technology for training of Dentists in Kano, as none of such schools are located in the Northern part of the country except Enugu state, in the Eastern part of Nigeria.
The third bill presented by him advocates for the establishment of a Sports University in Kano, which will give Nigerian youths vast opportunities to go into sports, taking them out the streets and as well, qualify them to be playing both local and international leagues.
He added that there are already existing infrastructures for the take-off of the proposed University of Sports, as the former governor of the state, Engr. Rabiu Kwankwaso has already established a Sports Institute, which will easily be converted to a University of Sports. He further explained that all the Bills have passed first reading and are awaiting second reading.
