The Kano State Police Command has deployed armed anti-riot personnel to stave off protests by supporters of Governor Abba Yusuf and his party, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) over the controversial Appeal Court Judgement that sacked him.

GOOD EVENING NIGERIA reports that Abba Kabir Yusuf’s supporters have been conducting a series of protests over the past few days, calling on the Supreme Court to reverse the appellate court verdict, which they described as “injustice”.

It was learnt that Wednesday’s protest was scheduled to be held along State Road, which leads to the Kano Government House as well as other locations.
However, the Police have deployed teams of personnel to disperse the protests at State Road, as well as other locations within the city.
Recall that the Appeal Court in Abuja had on November 17, 2023, nullified the election of Kano state governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and announced his opponent Nasiru Gawuna of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner.
Responding to the controversy, the National Judicial Council (NJC), which is the regulatory arm of the Nigerian judiciary has vowed to investigate the controversy and punish judicial officials found wanting.
