Governor Hope Uzodimma, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), has emerged victorious in all the 27 local government areas results announced in the Imo State governorship poll held on November 11, 2023.

The collation of results commenced at the State Collation Centre in Owerri around 02:30 am on Sunday, with the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti, Prof Abayomi Fashina, serving as the state Returning Officer for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Candidates from 18 political parties contested in the election, but analysts characterized this year’s governorship race in Imo State as a four-horse competition. Governor Hope Uzodimma of the APC, seeking re-election, faced opposition from Samuel Anyanwu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Achonu Nneji of the Labour Party, and Jack Ogunewe of the Action Alliance.

According to INEC, the registered voters in the state for the poll numbered 2,419,922, with 2,318,919 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) collected.

None of the other candidates secured victories in any local government.

At the conclusion of the collation at 08:30 am on Sunday, Fashina announced a one-hour break before reconvening to declare the winner.
