The Kano community is mourning the loss of a distinguished Islamic scholar, Sheikh Yusuf Ali (Sarkin Malaman Gaya), who has died at the age of 73.
According to a Facebook post by his son, Muslihu Yusuf Ali, Sheikh Yusuf Ali breathed his last on Sunday night.
The funeral prayers (Jana’iza) are scheduled to be held at Murtala Mosque, Tudun Maliki quarters at 1:30 pm on Monday.

Born in 1950 in Kano’s Gaya town, the late Islamic scholar embarked on his legal career in 1974 as a Sharia Court Scribe.
Over the years, he climbed the ranks, serving as Chief Clerk, Assistant Registrar, Registrar, Upper Sharia Court Judge, and Director at the Upper Sharia Court.
Sheikh Ali retired in 2009 and continued with Islamic teachings.
