The Court of Appeal in Abuja has ruled in favor of Yusuf Umar Datti of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and sacked Musa Ilyasu Kwankwaso of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Kura/Madobi/Garun Malam Federal Constituency election in Kano State.
The three-man panel, led by Justice Tunde Oyebamiji Awotoye, found merit in Datti’s appeal and upheld it.

The panel also noted that the tribunal had erred in calculating the date of the appellant’s resignation, which was counted from the party primary. It emphasized that Section 77 of the Electoral Act had been misapplied, as the issue of party membership is an internal matter beyond the court’s jurisdiction.
