A yet-to-be-identified 500-level student of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) has been shot dead in a renewed cult war between rival groups on the campus.
This event occurred on the campus, on Friday evening, resulting in the tragic death of a student, while three others sustained injuries of varying degrees during the attack.
According to reports, the rampaging cult groups stormed the Anatomy Department back gate to kill their target and from there moved to Physical science and laboratory departments shortly after the students finished writing their examination.
The deceased student was said to be shot at close range in his car while the three others were shot while trying to escape from the gunmen.

The incident caused panic among the students and staff on campus as they scampered for safety.
Witnesses revealed that the rival clash started in the Ekiadolor area a few days before, with reports of three alleged deaths. The conflict then spread to the Ugbowo campus of the institution.
