In celebration of World Polio Day, Rotary International, in collaboration with the Nigeria National PolioPlus Committee, has provided wheelchairs to more than 200 People With Disabilities (PWDs) in Kano state.
The theme of this event was “End polio now.”
The day’s festivities commenced with a peaceful walk that led participants from the Kano Emir’s palace to the state Government House, creating a vibrant spectacle.
Speaking, the District Governor of Rotary International District 9125 consisting of all the clubs in 23 states of Nigeria and Abuja, Sagab Sani Ahmed said the celebration is to appreciate all the partners that have been involved in the polio eradication initiative.

The Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, represented by Dankadan Kano, Dr. Bashir I Muhammad, commended the organizers for their compassionate gesture towards individuals with special needs.
The emir, who spoke on the importance of the polio vaccine and its peculiarities in the society, called on all and sundry to reject the fake news in circulation that it has side effects.
