The Police in Lagos, on Tuesday, arraigned a 25-year-old man, Senusi Usman, for alleged attempted theft of government cables.
Usman appeared before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court on a count charge.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty before Magistrate L K.J. Layeni.
The prosecutor, Dr Simon Uche, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Oct. 3, at Abia Gate at the Trade Fair complex, Ojo.
He alleged that the defendant unlawfully tampered with underground armoured cables at the complex in an attempt to steal them.

Uche said that the defendant was caught and arrested while trying to remove the cables belonging to the Federal Government.
According to the prosecutor, the alleged offence contravenes the provision of Section 340 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Layeni granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case until Nov. 15 for trial.
