The Acting Chairman of Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Ignatius Raymond, has revealed that the council generated only N20m in 2022.
Raymond made the disclosure after receiving each ward’s priority needs from the Kaura Community Development Charter (CDC) at the council’s 2024 budget town hall meeting in Kaura.
He said that Kaura recorded 80 per cent budget performance in 2022 and was rated fifth in terms of budget implementation in the state.
According to him, the council’s IGR target for 2024 is N23m just as he called for all hands to be on deck to achieve the set target.
The council boss assured the people that the document presented by the CDC would serve as a guide in the preparation and implementation of the 2024 budget.

“I want to sincerely thank the CDC for its efforts at getting the inputs of our people as it concerns the 2024 budget.
“I want to assure you all that we won’t go outside what is in this document as far as the 2024 budget is concerned.
“We will do the needful for our people and see how we can improve on this year’s performance in 2024,” he added.
Earlier in a remark, the Kaura CDC leader, Mr Istifanus Andrew, lauded the council for allowing the people to have a say in the process of governance.
Andrew noted that involving the people in the governance process allowed them to table their most pressing needs in order of importance.
He called on residents of the local government area to accord the council all the support and cooperation needed to actualise its mandate.
