Bandits Kill Villager Delivering Ransom in Kaduna

Bandits in Kaduna State have killed a villager, who had volunteered to deliver a ransom in Kidandan village in the Giwa Local Government Area of the state.

The victim, identified as Abdullahi Haruna, was a member of the First Aid of Fitiyanul Islam, according to Daily Trust.

He was said to step forward to deliver the ransom in exchange for the release of a fellow villager who was held by the bandits.

The tragedy occured on a Wednesday around 2:00 p.m. at a location known as Sabo Layi Kidandan.

A vigilante member, who chose to remain anonymous, confirmed the incident.

Jamil, a youth leader in the community, explained that the bandits had demanded a ransom for one of their captives, and Abdullahi Haruna had volunteered to be the courier.

The source revealed that the bandits attempted to force Abdullahi off his motorcycle after taking the ransom, but he resisted. He courageously informed them that his sole purpose was to deliver the ransom. Despite the presence of onlookers at Sabon Layi, the bandits resorted to shooting him for his resistance.

It’s worth noting that Sabon Layi village has become a central point for ransom collection in many abductions in the vicinity. Despite efforts to contact the State Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, his phone line remained unreachable.
