Troops of Operation Hadarin Daji said they have rescued six out of the many students kidnapped from the Federal University Gusau, Zamfara State, in the early hours of Friday.
Force Information Officer, Operation Hadarin-Daji, Cpt. Ibrahim Yahaya, confirmed this to the Newsmen on Friday in Gusau.
GOOD EVENING NIGERIA had earlier reported that armed bandits attacked Sabon Gida village in Zamfara State on Friday morning and kidnapped unspecified number students of the Federal University Gusau from their hostels.
A video currently circulating online shows the aftermath of the hostel, where the bandits had attacked and ravaged with bullet.

In the video, an unnamed student was heard how the assailants carried out the attack.
He said, “They (the bandits) forced their way through the windows. They dragged them out through the window. Look here. And know which of the rooms is hers. Maybe this it’s this room.”
Addressing newsmen, Cpt. Ibrahim Yahaya said that the troops pursued the abductors who took the students, mostly females, to the forest.
He said that the troops engaged the abductors in a gun duel, supported by the air component of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), and rescued six of the students.
Yahaya further stated that several bandits were neutralised during the rescue effort which, he said, was still ongoing.
“The troops also recovered one AK-47, a magazine, four motorcycles and one communication gadget from the terrorists,” the officer said.
