Over 27.1 Million Nigerians Lack Internet Access – Research

The 2023 data released by the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF) reveals that a staggering 27.1 million Nigerians do not have access to the internet.

The statistics underscore the pressing need for the federal government to formulate a policy regarding community networks, as highlighted by Yunusa Ya’u, the Executive Director of the Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD).

Ya’u said this during a roundtable discussion on Last Mile Connectivity (LMC) held in Abuja on Thursday.

He emphasized the importance of addressing the digital divide in the country.

He said, “The way forward is for the Nigerian government to come out with a policy on community networks.”
