In a surprising turn of events, the judges of the Kano governorship election tribunal were notably absent from the courtroom on a day slated for the delivery of judgment.
The tribunal had been convened to rule on a petition lodged by the All Progressives Congress (APC), challenging the electoral victory of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
This absence left many stakeholders, including journalists, lawyers, party members, and more, stranded outside the courtroom with no access granted.
Earlier, it had been reported that the Secretariat overseeing the tribunal had declared that there would be no live broadcast of the judgment.
Furthermore, the limited number of journalists permitted inside the courtroom were prohibited from using smartphones or cameras.
Meanwhile, the proceedings commenced before 10, Justice Oluyemi Akintan-Osadebay, Chairman of the three-member panel, spoke via Zoom.
