English striker Mason Greenwood marked his debut appearance for Getafe in La Liga on Sunday, taking to the field as a substitute against Osasuna.
This marked Greenwood’s first official match since his last appearance for Manchester United in January 2022.
Greenwood, who is currently on loan at Getafe from the Premier League giants, had faced serious legal troubles when he was charged with attempted rape and assault in October 2022.
However, the charges against him were subsequently dropped.
England’s Crown Prosecution Service explained that key witnesses had withdrawn their statements, and new evidence had come to light, leading to the removal of any “realistic prospect of conviction.”
In his debut for Getafe, the young striker was brought onto the pitch by coach Jose Bordalas in the 77th minute, replacing Juanmi Latasa, as the score remained deadlocked at 2-2.

Greenwood’s appearance was met with applause from the home fans at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez stadium.
Getafe secured Greenwood’s services on loan on September 1, with Coach Bordalas expressing his commitment to aiding the player in “recovering his best level” and rejuvenating his career.
Greenwood, who made his Manchester United debut at the tender age of 17 and has featured 129 times for the club, remains under contract at Old Trafford until 2025.
After conducting an extensive six-month internal investigation, Manchester United determined that Greenwood should continue his footballing journey at another club, leading to his loan move to Getafe.
