Controversial Nigerian musician, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has called upon fellow artists to stand up for themselves in the face of any industry-related oppression.
This appeal comes just two days after the untimely passing of popular Nigerian rapper Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, better known as Mohbad.
The 27-year-old, formerly associated with the Marlian music label, tragically lost his life on Tuesday.
Since the news of Mohbad’s demise surfaced, celebrities, fans, and Nigerians from all walks of life have been reacting to the shocking loss.
Some social media users have also expressed their discontent over what they perceive as the ill-treatment Mohbad endured during his time with his former record label.

This dissatisfaction has led many to call out Naira Marley, the head of Marlian music, on various social media platforms.
Portable, who had previously wished that his own death wouldn’t be exploited for glory, is now urging artists to break their silence and confront any form of oppression they may encounter in the music industry.
In a recent Instagram post, the ‘Zazu’ crooner emphasized the power of speaking up, stating that “a closed mouth is a closed destiny.”
He urged fellow artists to assert their rights and not shy away from advocating for themselves within the industry.
He said in part, “A Lion doesn’t care to walk alone . Open your mouth and talk, God put power inside talk. A closed mouth is a closed destiny, fight for yourself, industry get caucus.”
