FG Unveils Four-Point Agenda for Health Sector Revival

The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, and the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Tunji Alausa, have unveiled a comprehensive four-point agenda aimed at revitalizing the health sector in Nigeria.

Addressing the media during their inaugural news briefing in Abuja, the ministers expressed their commitment to rejuvenating healthcare and social welfare services for the benefit of Nigerians.

They said they would deliver the mandate in four main areas, namely; improving the governance of health, population health outcomes, medical industrialisation as well as value chain and improving health security.

Pate, highlighting the mission of their work, emphasized their commitment to saving lives, alleviating suffering, and promoting better health for all Nigerians.

He stated, “It’s time for renewal. It is also a time for optimism, given what we know has happened in the past.

“Looking forward, there is a lot of potential for improvement in terms of where we can go going forward for Nigerian citizens to live better and healthier.”

Alausa, on the other hand, revealed that their administration would establish a fund dedicated to medical research, fostering innovation within the healthcare sector.

Additionally, he said they will embark on the digitalization of Nigeria’s healthcare system, a move expected to enhance accessibility and efficiency in healthcare delivery.
