Not less than 24 farmers have been killed, while several others remain unaccounted for in a recent mishap involving a passenger boat in Gbajibo Community, situated in the Mokwa Local Government Area (LGA) of Niger State.
The victims hailed from Gbajibo, Ekwa, and Yankeiade, all within Mokwa LGA, according to Daily Trust.
Confirming the mishap, which occured on Sunday morning, the Chairman of Mokwa LGA, Jibrin Abdullahi Muregi, said 21 corpses had so far been recovered b local divers, while efforts were ongoing to rescue the remaining victims.

Meanwhile, the officials of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency, said they were collecting data to know the number of people involved.
As of now, we could not establish the number of passengers on board,but rescue officials were still at the scene as of Sunday morning.
This tragic event follows closely on the heels of another boat accident that happened in Yola, which Good Evening Nigeria reported that a vessel carrying passengers, including women and children, capsized, resulting in the death of at least 15 passengers.
