NLC Vows to Oppose Wike’s ‘Tyrannic’ Abuja Building Demolitions

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has kicked against the ongoing demolitions of buildings in Abuja, led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

NLC President Comrade Joe Ajaero, in a recent interview, likened these demolitions, which have disproportionately affected low-income residents, to “Hitler’s tyranny” and a process that “impoverishes the masses.”

Comrade Ajaero said that the NLC is committed to putting an end to these demolitions, asserting that they constitute a violation of the Constitution and the rights of workers.

Additionally, he called upon the government to take steps to provide affordable housing for the less privileged and to enhance the welfare of workers.

The demolitions in Abuja have garnered widespread criticism, with many accusing Minister Nyesom Wike of showing insensitivity to the struggles faced by the less fortunate.

The NLC’s firm stance against the demolitions is expected to increase the pressure on Minister Wike to reconsider and possibly halt these actions that have stirred public outcry.
