Meta Launches Web Version of Threads

thread reaches 100 million sign in

Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, has announced the launch of the web version of its new text-first social media platform, Threads.

The move is aimed at retaining professional users and gaining an advantage over its rival, formerly known as Twitter.

Users of Threads can now access the microblogging platform through its website using their computers, Meta confirmed.

The CEO of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, announced in a Threads post that the web version rollout would take place “over the next few days.”

The decision to introduce a web version comes after the Android version of the Threads app experienced a significant drop in daily active users.

According to a report from analytics platform Similarweb dated August 10, the user count decreased from its peak of 49.3 million to 10.3 million in just over a month.

The company will be adding more functionality to the web experience in the coming weeks, Meta said.
