In response to a circulating social media report, Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has refuted allegations that he opposed the ministerial nomination of his predecessor, Nasir El-Rufai, or the recommended successor.
El-Rufai, one of the 48 ministerial nominees submitted to the Senate by President Bola Tinubu, has encountered delay in his confirmation due to security concerns.
Following the postponement of his confirmation, El-Rufai reportedly engaged in a discussion with President Tinubu last week, during which he communicated his withdrawal of interest in the ministerial position. He purportedly suggested his former commissioner, Jafaru Sani, as a replacement.
Nonetheless, Governor Sani has categorically denied the trending social media claims. He confirmed that he did meet with President Tinubu to discuss ongoing matters surrounding his predecessor’s ministerial nomination.
However, he vehemently denies opposing or rejecting Jafaru Sani’s nomination based on his association with El-Rufai.

Labelling the story as misleading, fabricated, and malicious, Sani during an appearance on Channels Television.
Sani elucidated that the fabricated narrative aimed to sow discord between him and El-Rufai. He said his priority lies in upholding the reputation of his predecessor, transcending any other considerations.
“The only truth in the narrative is my meeting with the president. All else is fictional, an assumption intended to create divisions between me and Mallam (El-Rufai),” the governor asserted.
He further explained, “My visit to the president was solely motivated by my concern over unfolding events. I am convinced that both of them are acting in the best interest of the nation.”

He stated his unwavering support for El-Rufai’s decision, reiterating their alignment in perspectives. “If Mallam decides to propose a replacement, I will endorse his choice without hesitation. We share common goals. Those familiar with our relationship can discern the falsehoods. The source of misinformation is evident, but it holds no influence over us,” he stated.
