Kano State Governor, Engr Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the appointment of Alhaji Auwalu Mukhtar Bichi as the new Managing Director of Kano State Investment and Properties Limited (KSIP).
Auwalu is among the recent appointments of heads for various state-owned agencies and parastatals, announced by the governor earlier this week.
Born in Hagagawa area of Bichi Local Government, Kano State, Auwalu’s educational journey began at the prestigious Hagagawa Primary School. He completed his secondary education at Kano Community Commercial College in 1981.
Continuing his academic pursuits, he obtained a Diploma in Insurance with Credit Level in 1983 from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
Subsequently, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and later a Master’s Degree in Banking and Finance from Bayero University, Kano, in 1993 and 1995, respectively.
Auwalu’s professional career commenced at the Kano-based Insurance Company, Kapital Insurance Limited, where he steadily rose to the position of Head of the Re-insurance Department.
Later, he joined Royal Exchange Assurance Nigeria as a Branch Manager in Kano, overseeing the operations of the Company’s offices in Bauchi, Maiduguri, and Yola. In 2003, he assumed the role of Regional Director of the Company in Abuja.

Eventually, Auwalu assumed the position of Managing Director/CEO of Yankari Insurance Company Ltd in 2008, which was later known as Fin Insurance Co. Ltd.
He then returned to Royal Exchange Plc as the Executive Director of Marketing and Sales in 2010.
He was elected in 2010 as an Associate Member of the Institute of Directors (IoD), and is also a professional member of the following bodies: Associate Member Institute of Management Specialist UK, Member Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria, Associate Member Institute of Management and one time President of the Institute of Sales and Marketing Management of Nigeria.
He has attended various Executive Management and Development Programmes around the world, and he is an alumni Harvard Business School, USA.
