Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has issued a directive for the prompt payment of salaries to all categories of workers in the state, with only 11 days left in the month of July.
In a press statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Abubakar Bawa, the governor also instructed the immediate payment of July pensions to retirees in the state.
This directive applies to employees under the state government, local governments, local government education authority, and retirees receiving monthly pensions.
“The gesture is part of the governor’s campaign promises made to civil servants of prompt payment of salaries,” Abubakar stated.
“The idea behind the payment of July Salary on time is in view of the fact that Eid-el-Kabir was observed barely three weeks ago and workers are now financially unstable, hence the need for early payment.
“The governor, therefore, called on civil servants to reciprocate the gesture done to them by being punctual and dedicated to work,” he added.
