Omoyele Sowore, a prominent human rights activist, has expressed strong criticism towards President Bola Tinubu’s administration regarding its proposal to provide N8,000 cash palliatives to 12 million Nigerians over a span of six months.
GOOD EVENING NIGERIA reported that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said N8,000 will be given to 12 million families over a period of six months as a means of ameliorating the hardships of Nigerians as a result of subsidy removal.
However, the planned program has faced significant backlash from the Nigerian population. Sowore took to Twitter to describe Tinubu’s administration as a government of “renewed shege” (a derogatory term).
He expressed his dissatisfaction with the proposed palliative care, stating, “The govt of #RenewedShege! So, @officialABAT is going to provide palliative of N53 per day for 6 months? Jokes carried too far! These guys don’t rate Nigerians! #Revolutionnow.”
Tinubu had announced his intention to transfer N8,000 to 12 million impoverished households across the country.
However, Sowore calculated this amount to be equivalent to N53 per day for a period of six months, highlighting what he perceives as an insufficient response to the needs of the people.
